The COVID-19 Community Response Fund set up two years ago to help non-profit organizations is being closed.
Tony Gonzalez, Vice President of Community Development for United Way Fox Cities says 118 local nonprofit groups received $1.78 million. He thinks the money was spread pretty evenly across some main categories of support.
According to Gonzalez all the money in the fund was used. He say United Way and the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region are contributing $5,000 each to create a new Community Response fund. He says the idea is to have a fund started in case another emergency strikes.
